Hi Dave. To those not familiar with you, how would you describe your sound?

My sound draws from elements of folk-rock, but with its own unique alternative kick adding something ineffable to it. Or in simpler words: I write and produce soulful and authentic acoustic rock songs with real stories. The international music magazine Breakaway noted, “His sound and lyrics are relatable and catchy“.

Which three albums have influenced you the most creatively?

Dancing with Strangers – Chris Rea

Melissa Etheridge  – Melissa Etheridge

X – Ed Sheeran

Tell us about the key pieces of equipment that you use to define your sound?

My baby Taylor acoustic guitar and my voice:)

Is there any “non-musical” ingredient that is essential to crafting your sound?

Well, if this counts: Everything that surrounds me daily: Working part-time as a teacher, traveling, surfing, meditating, doing sports, watching the seasons change to simply sitting in a coffee shop, eavesdropping on a strange conversation…

Tell us about what you think the best solution is to our societal malady that you explore in your latest single, ‘Don’t Talk Anymore’.

Like every new “technical advancement“… we – in time hopefully – need to learn how to deal with it! The overwhelming thing with social media for me at the moment is just how omni-present it has become in my daily life, in the life of the people surrounding me… kind of freaks me out and frightens me at the same time. I give myself some rules: No smartphone during breakfast, lunch and dinner, flight mode at night and when I want time for myself!

Studio work and music creation, or performing and interacting with a live audience, which do you prefer?

Interacting with a live audience, hearing people sing my songs or dance along to them is pure magic. But I’ve also cried when hearing the rough mix of a song I wrote and rewrote my butt off for the first time in the studio:)

What has been your most memorable performance so far?

As a solo performer, singing my love song ‘Hold Me Close’ at a wedding in Stand, Switzerland and seeing how moved the freshly married couple was. With my band playing at Kulturkoller in Winterthur, as renowned music concert hall.

And which performance would you prefer to forget?

Playing in that shady hometown bar which name I have forgotten… no love, no appreciation…

Any new or emerging artists on your radar?

Riana, a young singer-ongwriter from Switzerland.

If you could collaborate with, or perform alongside any artist, who would it be? And why?

I admire and love Orla Garland, that would be a real honour to perform alongside her.

If you weren’t a musician what would you be?

Well, I already work part-time to pay the rent… so it’s a teacher:)Tell us about any upcoming shows or releases you have in the pipeline.

Really excited about my newest track ‘Don’t Talk Anymore’ (Release date 24 May) – it’s got such a good, strong rock energy with just the right amount of irony to make it relatable! Hopefully it will encourage people (and me) to put the smartphone aside and simply talk to lovers, family or just strangers without checking their phone. And I’ve got some nice bookings for solo-performances coming up, one is on a boat, summer gliding on the beautiful lake of Zurich.
