Irish singer-songwriter Mick Rochford has released his new single, ‘Loving You’, a deeply personal song exploring the breakdown of a long-term relationship and the difficult decision to let go of someone you still love.
The track is the lead single from Rochford’s upcoming second album, following his debut I’ve Got Something to Say. Focused on heartbreak, regret, and unanswered questions, ‘Loving You’ explores whether a failing relationship can, or should, be saved. It also contrasts idealised social media portrayals with the hidden loneliness and tension of real life. Rather than assigning blame, the song examines the emotional difficulty of admitting when two people are no longer compatible.
‘Loving You’ builds on strong momentum for the independent artist. Rochford’s debut album has exceeded 528,000 streams, and his single ‘Sticks and Stones’, which tackles bullying, has gained over 5.5 million views and 7,500 shares on TikTok. A former 1990s band drummer who supported Aslan at major Irish venues, Rochford now crafts solo music informed by his background in business, charity, community work, and coaching.
With ‘Loving You’, Rochford shifts from the wider social issue explored in ‘Sticks and Stones’ to the complexities of romantic relationships, delivering a song about the painful realisation that love alone cannot always hold two people together.
