Growing up in Northeast Italy, Mazare’s earliest musical memories are woven from his father’s vinyl collection, where Pink Floyd, U2, and Genesis spun endlessly until the electrifying pulse of electronic music captured his imagination in 2009 with David Guetta’s ‘When Love Takes Over’. Today, his sound crackles with the energy of metal-electronic hybrids and irresistible pop-rock hooks, drawing inspiration from The Prodigy, Noisia, and Bring Me The Horizon. Backed by industry giants like SLANDER, Koven, and Don Diablo, Mazare’s music has landed on Monstercat and Insomniac Records, racking up over 35 million Spotify streams and igniting a rapidly growing global fanbase.
For the explosive title track ‘Ego Death’, Mazare teams up with Glasgow’s Newshapes, an alternative rock and post-hardcore band celebrated for their soaring melodies, thunderous instrumentation, and raw, heartfelt songwriting. With every new release and electrifying live performance, Newshapes have forged a reputation as one of Scotland’s most thrilling up-and-coming heavy acts.
The track opens with a dreamy, sidechained synth pad drifting beneath Ian Mann’s vocals, slowly winding up the tension as listeners brace for an EDM drop. Suddenly, the song explodes into a fierce collision of metalcore and drum & bass, with rapid-fire breakbeats weaving through the thunder of a live acoustic kit. Mazare shared: “I was looking for the perfect conclusion for this ep, something that would sum up all the sounds, styles and atmospheres I went through with the whole project. That’s how ‘Ego Death‘ was born, a testament to breaking boundaries and going out of your comfort zone. And as I was looking for the right band to bring on board for the project, I came across Newshapes and was impressed by their sound and their range. It was an instant match and it’s safe to say I’m beyond happy with how the song turned out, they absolutely killed it!”
Newshapes shared: “When Mazare approached us to collaborate, we instantly knew it was something we wanted to be a part of. We knew Mazare had made a name for himself blending drum & bass with metal and post-hardcore influences; while we’ve always woven drum & bass and electronic elements into our own post-hardcore sound. We’re all huge fans of the genre and have even explored it in our own tracks like ‘reach’, so this felt like the perfect opportunity to fully embrace those influences more than we ever have before. It was such fun and rewarding collaboration, and we think the result feels like a natural and exciting meeting point between our two worlds.”
