Four-piece pop rock outfit Ojay unveiled their latest single, ‘December Snow’, on December 8th, 2023. Emerging from the haze of suburban Australia in 2018, the band quickly garnered a reputation for fervid live performances up and down the western seaboard, fusing the high energy rock and punk of the ’80s and ’90s with the catchy hooks and sing-along melodies of the current pop charts, throwing in a piano ballad or acoustic treat for good measure. After releasing their raw, DIY debut album Peppermoth, they took a hiatus from 2020, changing their lineup and finally returning in 2023 with their sophomore album The Ride.
Hot off the heels of their latest album, ‘December Snow’ is a passionate love ballad, beginning with powerful vocals and piano. It erupts into a lilting, in-your-feels 6/8 meter with the full band (sans guitar), featuring Christmassy bells, tamborine and swelling strings, simply oozing with romance and yearning.
