Alt-pop artist Chloe Star has released her new single ‘You Say’ today via Chloe Star Records. The 28-year-old Persian and Indigenous singer-songwriter, visual artist and tribal advocate was born in Los Angeles and now splits her time between there and London. Her self-assured sound first drew major attention when Rolling Stone put ‘Bad Habit’ in its 2025 Best New Music: Songs You Need to Know feature, with further support from CLASH Magazine, 1883 Magazine, EUPHORIA and EARMILK. Live, she has held her own on the main stage at London Pride, the New York Pride Festival, Back Lot Bash in Chicago, Out & Abt in New York and The Dinah in California. Raised between her family’s reservation in San Bernardino and Los Angeles, Chloe Star started turning feelings into songs and art as a pre-teen, shaped by the musical traditions of her Persian and Indigenous roots. Since breaking through in 2023 she has grown a loyal following on the back of raw honesty and emotional directness, pulling from Amy Winehouse, Nirvana, Janis Joplin and YUNGBLUD while often getting compared to Paramore, Billie Eilish and YUNGBLUD.
‘You Say’ is a dynamic love anthem co-written and produced by Chloe Star and JP Clark, mastered by Eric Emery whose résumé includes Blink182, Yellowcard and Travis Barker. The arrangement locks in around a driving electric guitar motif, a driving melody that evokes Chloe’s charisma, and drum hits that land square in the chest. Chloe Star’s voice moves with real range and clarity, letting her vocal texture carry the emotional depth. The song depicts a toxic romantic loop where promises and behaviour never line up, leaving the other person caught between hope and hurt.
Chloe Star had this to say: “I wrote this for anyone who’s ever been ghosted, left on read, or promised “I’m on the way” by someone who never shows up.”
