New York-based artist warner case has breathed new life into Mouth Water’s poignant single ‘Rise’. The remix dropped on 12 September, via Mouth Water’s newly launched label Through The Void.
The hypnotic remix delivers a stunning reimagining of the original, as warner case illustrates his deft production and sound design skills. The remix is charged with emotion along with vibrant dancefloor energy, and is a beautiful ode to Mouth Water’s original rendition. Drawing parallels to Tame Impala, Empire of the Sun, and Mura Masa, warner case infuses the track with shimmering textures, and an irresistible groove. Revealing more on the remix, warner case shared; “Making this remix brought me back to late 2000s blog haus, indie sleaze, and all the raw brilliance of that era. Dance music was grassroots and hungry, and a college kid with a blog could shape public opinion. It was a nascent, exciting time, and hopefully my remix does it justice.”
The original was created as a love letter to friendships, specifically the connections that have ended, and the ones which have endured. For Mouth Water, this remix is yet another brilliant chapter in a catalogue that continues to evolve and inspire. Sharing more on the track, Mouth Water said; “I wrote this song thinking about the friends I shared so much with in the past who are no longer part of my daily life. It’s an open letter, a gesture of hope, because sometimes, even after long silences, we can come back together and create something meaningful again.”
