Indie folk sensation Cape Jay shared his latest offering ‘Brazilia’ on October 18th via the Sound Foundry imprint. The South African musician is known for his distinct worldview which shapes his sound, songwriting and artistic vision. ‘Brazilia’ premiered on prominent indie tastemaker The Indy Review, received support from NOTION and has been playlisted on South African radio station Goodhope FM.
Cape Jay landed onto the scene in 2022 with his debut single ‘Golden Lady’ and received support from renowned South African publication Texx and the City for his track ‘Not Enough’.
While Cape Jay draws Influence from the likes of Jack Symes and Bon Iver, his sound is entirely his own, shaped by rich textures, a riveting vocal range and an unsullied storytelling ability. In his music, he often sings about his travels which have taken him all over the globe, from New York to Brazil which is also evident in ‘Brazilia’.

The single tells a story of how relationships can become toxic, and sometimes the best thing to do is put yourself first and let go. The single encapsulates this notion incredibly well, with Cape Jay’s ability to paint a vivid picture through his songwriting. ‘Brazilia’ was produced by Greg Abrahams from the Sound Foundry, while mixing and mastering was handled by Mike Zietsman.
Cape Jay revealed: “I am really excited about releasing this single, I feel it has the potential to connect to an international audience on a much larger scale than my previous releases. This song is about the toxicity in some relationships and how there is this constant push and pull between two people. It represents the need to look after our hearts and to follow what serves us and to let go of what doesn’t.”
