Irish electropunk band YARD are back with another headbanging single titled ‘Trevor’, released on 28 March.
2024 was a staggering year for the band, with their career gaining unprecedented momentum. Now, with ‘Trevor’, the prolific trio are further solidifying their footprint and influence on the rock scene. The single serves as a teaser from their forthcoming EP which is set for release in May. ‘Trevor’ is an enthralling concoction of techno and electronic rock, showcasing their signature sound, but also their ability to dismantle creative barriers.

‘Trevor’s’ lyrics delves into the concept of anthropomorphism, which is the human tendency to assign emotions and meaning to inanimate objects. The single begins with an ominous, foreboding tone setting the stage for the cacophony of chaos to come. ‘Trevor’ carefully walks the line between sonic extravagance and explosive energy, while encapsulating YARD’s trademark potion of post-punk rock and electronic music.
YARD vocalist Emmet White reveals; “I’ve a habit of naming inanimate objects that have played a significant role in my life. In this case ‘Trevor’ was the name of a bike that I had for years, which was passed down to me by my brother. Sadly, one night, it was stolen outside of work. The loss of Trevor hit me far harder than I had expected as it felt like I had lost a friend or a companion.”
