Bird Voices began as a creative partnership in London when Denis and Jello, longtime friends and collaborators, turned their shared love for poetry and storytelling into music. This poetic foundation has defined their journey, from their early Spoken Words album in Paris to assembling a full band with Marc Zhang (lead guitar), Simon Xie (bass), and Jules Chevrier (drums).
Their debut gig at Supersonic Club set the stage for a period of meticulous preparation and live performances, resulting in an unconventional recording process for their album, ‘Cold Sweats.’ with a vintage eight-track tape machine and a DIY ethos, they transformed an unfinished countryside studio into a creative haven. Capturing their sessions live on tape, Bird Voices crafted a sound riddled with raw energy and authenticity, a rare feat in the age of digital perfection.
The album, mixed in Paris and mastered in Rome, embodies their eclectic influences, blending blues, folk, and psychedelia into a dynamic 12-track experience. Singles like ‘Scarecrows‘ showcase their experimental edge, channeling the mysterious vibes of CAN and Tom Waits, while their live performances exude an intimate charm.
‘Cold Sweats’ debuted on December 13th with a release concert at La Mécanique Ondulatoire, cementing Bird Voices’ place in the Paris Music Scene. It’s not just an album; it’s a testament to the power of friendship, artistry, and resilience.
