Cult. Models made their mark on the alternative modelling scene on March 17th, with their launch event at ROAR Live.
The turnout was spectacular, with performances by Megalodon, Ohgod, Imperial Destruction, Return To Aether, and Kill Frenzy . Sponsors included Mr Lucky’s Cape Town Tattoo studio, Wildfire Body Piercing Clinic and NDRL Plugs, who sponsored a host of prizes and giveaways, and attendees enjoyed the opportunity to rub shoulders with a bevvy of alternative beauties – all captured by Killkenny Photography. The event also aided in raising awareness for SADAG (South African Depression and Anxiety Group)
Organiser and Cult. Leader Dasha Destrukt formed Cult. Models as a platform for models with a darker, more alternative aesthetic. “First and foremost, we are a family before everything. Cult. is a place to belong and a place where your talents are CULTivated and where your CULTure is embraced.” she says. Cult. is currently home to 14 models, and hosts shoots all over Cape Town, and in the very near future, Johannesburg.
Naturally, the launch event was the perfect opportunity to bring together some of the finer aspects of the alternative culture – great people, loud music and good vibes. Speaking of the event, Dasha said: “the Cult. launch as a massive success, thanks to all the people that joined us for our birth- the energy inside the building that night was electric! Once you walked in, you knew that the evening was going to be epic. The bands on the bill gave the crowd their all, and it was a beautiful thing to experience. Keep posted, there will be many more Cult. events- you haven’t seen the last of us yet.”
