ZOCO Confront the Noise with “Overstimulated”

Released on February 20, ‘Overstimulated’ finds ZOCO at their most confrontational and focused. The final single before the arrival of LUMANISTA I on March 6, the track positions the project — led by Marco Zocco alongside his brothers Paolo and Matteo — as a band unafraid to tackle the psychological fatigue of the digital era head-on.

Musically, the song leans into muscular guitar work and a disciplined, almost militaristic rhythmic pulse, giving it a sense of urgency that mirrors its lyrical theme. Electronic elements and club-oriented synth textures add a modern sheen without diluting the raw rock foundation. The production strikes a deliberate balance: polished yet forceful, layered yet never overcrowded.

Lyrically, ‘Overstimulated’ is blunt by design. It addresses distraction culture, social comparison, and the numbing effect of endless connectivity, cutting through with phrases that feel less poetic and more declarative. The oxymoron “altogether, all alone” encapsulates the paradox of hyperconnected isolation, while the now-infamous “get the f*ck off your phone” line functions as both satire and sincere call to action.

The broader EP benefits from heavyweight collaborators, including production by Gunnar Nelson, executive production from Kerry Brown, and contributions from musicians such as Carmine Rojas and GRAMMY-winning producer Theron “Neff-U” Feemster. Yet despite the impressive roster, the project remains unmistakably personal — Marco writes and performs the material, grounding the sound in his multicultural background and multi-instrumental discipline.

Overstimulated’ doesn’t aim for subtlety. It’s designed as friction — a deliberate interruption in an age built on passive consumption. Whether listeners see it as critique or catharsis, one thing is clear: ZOCO are not interested in background music. They want a reaction.
