West London indie rock band The Bluetones have made their triumphant return after a 14 year hiatus. The band released their Drive Thru EP on October 4th via their newly established label Brainhole Records.
The Bluetones was established in 1993, and saw the group rise rapidly with thirteen Top 40 singles and three Top 10 albums. Since their inception, the band members have remained the same, with Mark Morriss as the lead singer and frontman, Scott Morriss on bass, Adam Devlin on guitar and Eds Chesters on drums.
The EP’s lead single ‘Drive Thru’ is a fervent reminder of the band’s influence and passion. Despite not releasing any new music in over a decade, their sound is still as crisp and relevant as ever. Mark Morris elaborates on the lead single; “this song is about abandoning the past and embracing the unknown. It’s about not being tied down by other people’s perceptions of you and just going for it. Plus, it rocks.”
Over the following 6-8 months the band are slated to release two more projects on their label, with the Drive Thru EP serving as the first release in the roll out. Their chemistry and artistic vision is unparalleled, especially after so many years together. Mark Morriss reveals; “for the first time since we formed the music isn’t driven by an outside agenda, or a need to fill somebody else’s schedule. It feels like the purest thing we’ve done since we were a signed band”.
The Bluetones will also be going on tour in the UK and Ireland from 17 October until mid November, get your tickets HERE
