Indie-rock outfit The Burma return with their sanguine single, ‘Holiday’, released on the 8th of September 2023 via The Burma Music Group. Based in Cork, Ireland, the band has earned support slots for artists such as The Academics and The Strypes, and have gained extensive airplay across Ireland, the UK, and the USA. They’ve also received support from tastemakers like The Rolling Stone India, CLASH Magazine, NOTION Magazine, Hot Press, Atwood Magazine, and Medium.com/Pop Off, and have also earned spins on RTÉ 2FM with Dan Hegarty as well as RTÉ Radio 1. In addition, ‘Holiday’ has already premiered and received support from EARMILK, and comes off of their highly anticipated album, Crazy Dreams & Cruel Realities, which is set to dazzle on the 6th of October 2023.

‘Holiday’ shines in its tranquil and outrageously chilled delivery. Abound with wobbly synths and plush pads, it’s jangly indie guitar is welcomed and well received amidst a casual drum-beat and bass progression. The vocals are crisp and mellow, emitting a sublime yet relaxed radiance that oozes tranquility. Topically, the song explores day-to-day monotony, and the need to break away from said monotony when the stress levels get too high. Ultimately, it feels as if the band somehow managed to encapsulate lazy summer days into a song, and with its pleasant and subtle allure, ’Holiday’ is the perfect track for any sort of R+R.

When asked about ‘Holiday’, the band remarked: “It’s a more laid back, feel good Summer tune and we wanted to try and capture that within the production. When we were in the middle of writing our second album, we were trying to narrow down what songs would make the Final Cut. Holiday was a stand out track and an easy choice for all of us, not just as an album pick but as our main single.”
